On March 24, 2014, the new regulations issued by the Office of Federal Contractor Compliance Programs (OFCCP) will take effect. The regulations bring significant changes to the affirmative action requirements for federal contractors and subcontractors with respect to the hiring and retention of veterans and individuals with disabilities such as:

  • A seven percent hiring goal for individuals with disabilities;
  • A hiring benchmark for veterans; and
  • A requirement that contractors invite job applicants to voluntarily self-identify as a veteran and/or as an individual with a disability.
